A BORDER Aboriginal group has received NSW Government funding to revive
some of the indigenous languages of this region.

The Nyanda Ngudjuwa Aboriginal Corporation of Wodonga received $11,000
and will use the money to hold Aboriginal language workshops.

The grant is part of a NSW Government program that aims to revitalise
Aboriginal languages along the Murray.

Nyanda Ngudjwa language worker Thomas Kinchela said the corporation
usually focused on the Dhudhuroa and Waywurru languages of Wodonga and
the North East.

However guest speakers would also visit from the Wiradjuri country, in
Albury, and the Kamilaroi and Barkindgi country in northern NSW.

He said the corporation was hoping to set up a learning centre to teach
the languages.
