People in the Yorkton, Sask., area will soon find a new radio station on
the dial, one with an aboriginal flavour.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has
granted Natotawin Broadcasting Inc. a licence to operate an FM radio
transmitter.

The company is a subsidiary of La Ronge-based Missinipi Broadcasting
Corp., which currently operates in the province's north.

In a news release, Missinipi CEO Deborah Charles said she was "deeply
gratified" that the federal regulator gave quick approval to the
licence application.

The station broadcasts radio programs with an emphasis on aboriginal
language, culture and news. There are more than a dozen First Nation
reserves in Yorkton area in the east-central part of the province.

Following technical setup and testing, Missinipi plans to start
rebroadcasting on 92.9 MHz by April 2007.
