Ah, maybe not in Australia, but here in the U.S. we have many who say this. 
We even have an English Only movement trying to legislate the idea that to 
be American means that you must speak English. No other languages, not even 
the First Nations, or Native American, languages will qualify a person to be 
truly American. Just English, the language of the colonizers.
