Teach English as a foreign language in Indigenous schools: education union

The Northern Territory Government has rejected comments by a senior academic who
says the Territory eudcation stystem discriminates against Aboriginal students.

Professor Helen Hughes from the Centre for Independent Studies in Sydney says
10,000 Indigenous students across the Territory can't read or write.

But the Territory's Education Minister Marion Scymgour says the professor is
mistaken.
