Names like Tamaqua, Catasauqua and Hokendauqua: What do they mean?
The Stone Age people who lived in the Lehigh Valley area before the Europeans
arrived here 500 years ago left little behind. Stone arrowheads and tools, clay
pots and wooden objects are about all that remain.
More visible and much more alive is their history that survives in the names of
towns and geographic features that carry traces of their language.
