InField 2010 Ready for Registration
This summer, the University of Oregon is hosting the second Institute for
Field Linguistics and Language Documentation (InField 2010). InField 2010
is an excellent opportunity to learn/update the technical skills necessary
to do successful modern language documentation, maintenance, and
revitalization. InField will consist of two weeks of workshops (June 21 –
July 2) with the option of an additional week for lab practice (July 5-9) or
an additional four weeks of training in field methods (July 5 – 30).

The Northwest Indian Language Institute (NILI) will also be hosting its
annual Summer Institute (June 21 – July 30), with courses covering topics
including Northwest languages, linguistics, and language teaching methods,
centered on the theme Language and Place. Participants at InField will also
be able to attend NILI courses if they prefer these to some workshops.

InField and NILI will also be co-hosting four conferences in the weekend
between the two weeks of workshops (June 25-27): the 17th Annual Stabilizing
Indigenous Languages Symposium (SILS), the Athabascan/Dene Languages
Conference, the 45th International Conference on Salish and Neighboring
Languages, and the Hokan-Penutian Languages Conference.
