Native Language Teachers No Longer Need Certification

A new law allows high schools to hire tribal elders to teach Native
Americans languages, even if they are not certified teachers. Michigan
already allows students to learn tribal languages to satisfy the
state's high school graduation requirements, but many schools do not
have instructors certified to teach Native languages.
