The Pitjantjatjara people, whose traditional lands are close to the
centre of Australia and include Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the
Olgas), are so eager to have God’s Word completed in their own
language that they are willing to translate the Old Testament in their
own time and using their own expertise.

The Pitjantjatjara New Testament, Tjukurpa Palya (‘The Good Message’),
was dedicated at Easter 2002 and includes 15% of the Old Testament.

Over the last nine years around 1,500 copies of the NT have been
acquired by the 3,000 Pitjantjatjara people. It is used extensively in
church services and other Christian gatherings, as well as by
individual Christians at home and in Bible studies.
