‘How to protect our languages’

Nigerians have been urged to ensure that indigenous languages do not
disappear. How? By ensuring that their children acquire their
mother-tongue, rather than learn it.

The admonition was made by the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National
Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Barclays Ayakoroma while
presenting an address at the opening ceremony of the 2011 indigenous
language programme held at the Southeast zonal office in Owerri, the
Imo State capital.
