On the topic of Kuipers' analysis of Kabardian, Pat Ryan wrote on 2 Mar 2001:

No, he was mildly to moderately criticized for that analysis.

He was severely criticized for his suggestion that Kabardian had *NO* phonemic
vowels, only a feature similar to Lehmann's "sonority peak".  Rightly so.
