Diminutives

Dear Info Childes:
I am interested in parent's and children's usage/acquisition of
diminutives (the "y" or "ie" endings on words such as "horsie").  Is
anyone currently doing work in this area?  Do any of you have suggestions
on literature that might be relevant- especially concerning the usage of
diminutives in child directed speech.  I will post responses back to the
group.
