Dan is right, of course. Also, Bogoyavlenskiy really did much more with
derivational morphology, which is richer in Russian than in English,
than we did.
Prior to that, in addition to the work of scholars like Gvozdev, there
was a lot of anecdotal evidence on morphological innovation in Russian,
including a very charming book by Kornei Chukovskii, published around
1956.
