counting words

Since the issue of counting words has come up:  Is there any way to limit
analyses to a certain number of words?  Thomas Klee in an article on sample
analyses recommended calculating type-token ratio based on word limits
rather than utterance limits -- 100, 200, or 400 word samples.  I can't see
any way to do this with CLAN other than counting the words by hand.
