Please bring this tenure track position to the attention of anyone
interested in working with bilingual populations. The Miami
metropolitan area has a large population of Spanish/English and Haitian
Creole/English bilinguals. The Communication Sciences & Disorders
department at FIU plays an important role in educating bilingual
speech-language pathologists to serve the needs of the community and
affords a wonderful opportunity for individuals interested in
researching bilingual acquisition and bilingual communication disorders.
Faculty position in the Department of Communication Sciences and
Disorders at Florida International University located in the Miami
metropolitan area. The department is located in the School of Health,
College of Health and Urban Affairs and affords faculty and students a
unique opportunity for collaboration with individuals in the departments
of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Health Information
Management. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and
graduate level courses, student advisement, and clinical research.
Qualified applicants must be ASHA certified in Speech-Language Pathology
and hold or be eligible for Florida licensure. Preference will be given
to candidates who hold a doctoral degree and whose specialty field are
child speech and language development, and bilingual acquisition.
Individuals that are bilingual Spanish/English or Creole/English are
strongly encouraged to apply. The department is committed to the
outstanding academic and clinical preparation of multicultural
populations. Salary is negotiable based on rank. This is a nine month
position to begin Fall 2004. Opportunity for summer employment in future
