Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Speech Science in the Department of Psychology (Tamaki campus). The successful candidate will be expected to have expertise in Speech Language Therapy and the necessary qualifications to teach in core areas of Speech Language Therapy at a postgraduate level. They should also have a proven record of research and be able to supervise postgraduate students.

Position Overview The Department of Psychology (Tamaki campus) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Lectureship/Senior Lectureship in Speech Language Therapy. Applicants should have a PhD in an area related to speech and language therapy practice and the qualifications necessary to teach in core areas of Speech Language Therapy at a postgraduate level.
Applicants must have a minimum of three years' clinical experience and be eligible for membership of the New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists Association (NZSTA). They should also have a proven record of research and be able to supervise post-graduate students.
Speech Science is part of the Department of Psychology, which is one of the largest psychology departments in New Zealand. The successful applicant will be asked to commence duties by 7 May 2007.

Job Description

Key Accountability Areas TEACHING/SUPERVISION
You must be committed to excellence in tertiary education.
Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Develop and teach major curriculum components of courses.
Coordinate and administer the teaching of subjects.
Supervise the research activities of graduate and undergraduate students.
Undertake clinical supervision of graduate students.
RESEARCH
Undertake an active, appropriate and viable personal research programme.
Publish papers or other scholarly works in academic journals and reviews and the like.
ADMINISTRATION
Carry out administrative responsibilities appropriate to the position.
Participate in community service activities that further advance the particular field.
UNIVERSITY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve on University and/or Department committees.
Ensure the observance of University policy and codes of practice in all teaching research and administrative practices.
Contribute to the development of a Department working environment of teamwork and co-operation.
Any other duties as required by the Head of Department.
Person Specification
Qualifications Qualifications:
Relevant PhD or equivalent qualification in an area related to speech and language therapy practice and the qualifications necessary to teach in core areas of Speech Language Therapy at a postgraduate level.
Experience Experience:
Applicants must have a minimum of three years clinical experience and be eligible for membership of the New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists Association (NZSTA).
Experience in the clinical supervision of speech language therapy students is desirable.
