I have wondered if the children who appear to begin talking in sentences are
actually those that fall into the "holistic", "tune not words" group of
children that has been described by various authors. Parents who do not
have many other children to compare them to, but have only heard "single
words", "analytic" style children before, may think their children have no
single words, but are in fact speaking in (rather indistinct) sentences.
