Two Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Positions in Human Development

The Department of Human Development at the University of Maryland seeks two
Assistant Professors, to join its faculty beginning August, 2011. For one
position we seek a scholar whose research and teaching interests are in the area
of social cognitive development; the individual filling this position will
affiliate with the department’s developmental science area. For the second
position, we seek an Assistant Professor whose research will complement and
extend ongoing research programs, and this individual will affiliate with our
educational psychology specialization. The 16 current faculty members in the
Department have internationally renowned research programs on different aspects
of human development and learning.

The department offers doctoral specializations in developmental science and
educational psychology, master’s degrees in human development and in early
childhood development, an undergraduate minor in human development, and a
teacher certification program in early childhood education. Graduates from the
Department’s research-focused Ph.D. program take positions at major academic and
research institutions. The Department has applied for a renewal of its
NICHD-funded Training Program in Social Development and has other means of
supporting doctoral students. The department houses a Center for Young Children
lab school, and an Institute for Child Study. For more information about the
current faculty’s research areas and the department’s programs visit
