2. Prof. Ofelia Garcia has a book that has just come out on the education of emergent bilinguals titled "educating emergent bilinguals" : I have not read it yet but Ofelia is usually detailed in her descriptions of programs and very thorough in compiling her bibliography.


3. Relevant references appear in a book chapter MaryDeBey and I co-wrote:
DeBey, M. & Barriere, I.  (2009) Globalization, Technology and the Education of Young Children: Understanding the
World in Two Languages. In O’Connor-Petruso, S.A. & Girelli-Carasi, F. (Eds.) Globalization, Technology and Curriculum. Boston: Pearsons.

My interest is in additive programs, designed  for children who are speakers of a dominant language, learning a foreign language, as well as programs for speakers of a migrant/minority language, learning a dominant language.

Dear Michelle,
I do not know which aspects of language you are most interested in, or how extensive a paper you will be writing, but you might find my book on bilingual children helpful to get started, especially chapter 7.  The book was written for parents, but you can also find a complete set of notes for it at my website.  They will point you to work on infants and toddlers by myself and colleagues, but also by Werker,  Vihman, Sebastian-Galles, Genesee, Paradis, Meisel, Deuchar, and Leopold among others.
