This would be particularly suitable for a recent graduate who is looking to begin a career in language-acquisition research, as the successful applicant may be offered the opportunity to register for a PhD.

£25,854 pa
You will join a project in the area of Child Language Acquisition, led by Dr Ben Ambridge. The project investigates competing theoretical accounts of the means by which children avoid verb argument structure overgeneralization errors - for publications see http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~ambridge/
You should have a Degree in Psychology, Linguistics or related discipline with experience of conducting at least one experimental study with pre-school and/or primary school age children. You will be responsible for recruiting approximately 500 child and adult participants, preparing stimuli, running the studies and data analysis. The post is available for 36 months, commencing 1 October 2011.

Experience in conducting at least one experimental study with pre-school and/or primary-school-age children
Experience in recruiting adults, children, schools and nurseries for participation in experimental studies
Experience in conducting data analysis in Excel and SPSS
Experience in writing up experiments
Experience in conducting child language acquisition studies with pre-school and/or primary-school-age children
Experience in creating experimental stimuli (animations, videos, audio recordings) using suitable computer software (e.g., Anime Studio Pro, Audacity) and designing experimental studies
Experience in preparing or helping to prepare peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations, particularly in the area of child language acquisition, language or linguistics
