English V-schwa alternations in children's speech

Hi,
I've noticed some interesting 'hypercorrection'-type errors, both in my own
kid's speech and in the CHILDES corpora, with English V~schwa alternations.
Examples:

Edison is [i]llergic to eggs.
I don't want a el[o]phant.

Does anyone know of previous work on this? Any information, references,
observations, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks -

Marjorie
