    The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures
at Western Michigan University seeks applications for an
assistant professor of Spanish, tenure track, beginning
fall 1999, pending budgetary approval.  Ph.D. in Spanish
or evidence of imminent award required.  Native or
near-native fluency essential.
  - Preferred specialization in Spanish language and/or
applied linguistics.
  - Genuine interest in coordination and supervision of
teaching assistants.
  - Commitment to teaching at all levels, including
undergraduate classes in culture of Spain or Latin
America.
  - College teaching experience and publications
desirable.
  - Western Michigan University, a Carnegie
Classification Doctoral I Institution, has an affirmative
