The following permanent vacancy has arisen within the School of Modern
Languages and is available from 1 October 2002:
Two Lecturers in Hispanic Studies (Ref: 6382)
Preference will be given to a candidate with a research specialisation
in either Spanish philology and linguistics or Golden Age or
Nineteenth Century literature. Candidates will need to have at least
near native command of written and spoken Spanish, including the
ability to teach through the medium of Spanish and English. They will
also be required to have proven research interests and outstanding
research potential, and to have completed or be completing a PhD or
its equivalent.
Initial salary for the first post will be between 22,522 pa (scale pt
9) and 25,455 pa (scale pt 2), rising to 29,709 pa (scale pt 16) and
35,249 pa (scale pt 21) after 5 years. Salary for the second post
will be 22,522 pa rising to 29,709 pa after 5 years. The salary scale
will be under review for a cost of living award from 1 August 2002,
and salary progression will be subject to satisfactory performance.
