Description:
The Butler Hill Group, a computational linguistics consulting 
company, has an immediate need for two well-organized, 
detail-oriented linguists to fill Linguistic Tester positions on 
an existing multilingual project.
Qualified candidates will have native-level reading AND 
handwriting skills in Spanish OR German AND will have strong 
background in and practical experience with linguistic testing. 
Candidates must also have excellent reading and communication 
skills in English.

As part of a team of three linguists working on a handwriting 
recognition program, Linguistic Testers will perform testing on 
the personalization feature in the respective language and 
cross-language. They will perform failure analysis and bug mining 
on recognition result data with and without personalization for 
both text and shape adaptation; they will also test word breaking 
and language auto-detect features, user dictionaries, User 
Interface, the localized help and documentation. The testers will 
have a lead that will be available to answer questions and give 
general support.

Are you the right candidate for this position?
The right candidates for the Linguistic Tester position will be 
able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong 
communication skills. Individuals must have a strong linguistic 
test experience, be passionate and team-oriented. *Candidates 
with linguistic software testing experience or familiarity with 
various testing procedures will be preferred.* This role requires 
individuals who are able to carefully follow documented 
instructions. Where there are gray areas, they will be 
comfortable using their best judgment or intuition to make a 
decision. This position requires individuals who are native 
speakers or native-like speakers and handwriting proficient in 
the respective languages.
This is a full-time contract position. Candidates should be able 
to commit 40 hrs/week for 3 months in April, May and June of 
2007, or the equivalent hours between March and June.

Requirements:
This position requires the candidates to work onsite full-time in 
Redmond, Washington (USA). Better than average technical skills 
in a Windows environment are also expected. Please specify all of 
your spoken/written languages, along with level of fluency. US 
residents must have US work authorization (US citizen or 
permanent resident). Unfortunately, the Butler Hill Group cannot 
sponsor employment visas at this time. You will be required to 
sign a legally binding non-disclosure agreement at the time of 
contract negotiation.

Compensation:
We offer a competitive, hourly pay rate DOE (to be paid as 1099 
self-employment income).
