Description:
The Department of Modern Languages at Northern Arizona 
University, Flagstaff, invites applications for a tenure track 
Assistant Professor in Spanish position with a specialization in 
Second Language Education beginning in August, 2008. Duties will 
include teaching second language pedagogy courses for secondary 
education majors in Spanish, German, and French; courses for the 
MA in Teaching Spanish, and Spanish undergraduate language, 
pedagogy, and methodology courses. Duties will also include 
supervision of student teachers, research in foreign language 
education or a related field; advising minors, majors and 
graduate students; department, university and community service.

Minimum Qualifications:
a) PhD in Spanish with emphasis in Second Language Education or 
PhD in Spanish Linguistics with an emphasis in second language 
acquisition/pedagogy, or related field completed by August 2008;
b) superior proficiency in Spanish and English;
c) teaching experience at the College level.

Preferred Qualifications:
a) Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate 
courses in second language acquisition, pedagogy, and assessment.
b) Strong evidence of scholarly research activity and a clear 
research agenda.
c) Supervision of student field work experience;
d) Commitment to working with diverse populations.
e) Teaching experience at the secondary level.
f) Proficiency in French and/or German.
g) Experience with NCATE, accreditation, and assessment, $50,000 
- $53,000

The search will remain open until the position is filled or 
closed; however, the committee will begin reviewing applications 
on November 30, 2007. Application materials should include: a 
letter of application (including information about candidate's 
teaching interests and research agenda), curriculum vitae, three 
recent letters of recommendation, original transcripts of 
graduate coursework, a statement of teaching philosophy, sample 
syllabi, current teaching evaluations, and evidence of scholarly
