POST-DOCTORAL POSITION: Theoretical linguistics. CCHS-CSIC (MADRID)

The linguistic section of the research group "Geolingüística y variación
del español" at the /Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales/ in the /Spanish High
Council for Scientific/ /Research/ (CSIC) announces a *post-doctoral position
associated with the project AC HUM2007-30541-E/FILO "Predicados y dependencia
del contexto"* as well as with the more general aim of creating a group of
theoretical linguistics within this institution. The grant for the project
allows a sixteen months (maximum) contract. In principle, the contract should
start, at a mutually agreed date, between October and December 2008.

The ideal candidate will have a *research specialization* related to at least
one of the areas we want to develop in the framework of the two just mentioned
objectives: formal semantics (especially semantics of events and properties) and
syntax-lexicon-semantics interface; or syntax of variation either from a
theoretical or a probabilistic perspective. Additional experience in
computational linguistics as well as in statistics will be very well evaluated,
although it is not required.

*Job responsibilities* will primarily consist in contributing to the evelopment
of the projects via original research in one or more of these areas and in
carrying out supporting tasks related to the project(s). The candidate may be
asked to help in the organization of seminars. Knowledge of Spanish is not
essential, although familiarity with this language would be very well considered.
