Conference on EMERGING TRENDS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING IN PAKISTAN:
CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
*March 12-14, 2020*
*Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad*
The conference aims to provide a platform for national and international
scholars, language policy makers, professionals, researchers, academic
scientists, linguists and educationists to impart and share their
experiences in quality English language teaching and learning. Through this
forum, the participants are expected to disseminate the recent innovations,
trends and concerns, practical challenges encountered and the prospects
available for achieving best practices.
The rapid growth of communication technologies and globalization has
provided many opportunities to English language teachers and learners. It
has paved ways for multiple openings as well as created certain challenges.
The ELT practitioners face the challenge of sustaining the established
practices while integrating new methods and technologies in their
classrooms. The conference will provide an opportunity to address the
issues related to mixed-ability learners, ESP, syllabus design, assessment,
teachers training and technology in the classroom. The conference will also
provide a forum to ELT professionals to share and discuss their research
findings and experiences and generate a debate on practical and theoretical
issues related to ELT in multiple contexts of Pakistan. Thus, researchers,
trainers, and ELT experts will focus on the challenges and opportunities in
ELT in Pakistan, Asia and other related countries. It will be a unique
breakthrough for the participants to continue with their professional
development while networking and cooperating with the ELT community of the
