Then we agree--and more to the point, the notion of a 'Minor Entry' in
the FieldWorks project is similar to what you describe. Actually, it
adds several other things to the pair: minor entries obligatorily link
to the major entry that they're related to ("tengo" would be linked to
"tener" in the example I gave.) You can also assign pronunciations,
allomorphs and/or an underlying form. And since minor entries are used
for derivational, as well as inflectional, morphology, they can also
have senses, etc. (In fact, allomorphs/ underlying forms are probably
only relevant to derivational morphology, although of course the
existence of a inflection-derivation distinction is a theory-specific
question. And of course the need for a pronunciation field depends on
the language's orthography.)
