[Lexicog] age-related pronunciation differences

Ken,
Pretty fascinating, and endearing! Reminds me of my wife and I with our
older son Lucas
keeping track of his phonological development... Oh and, one anecdote.
Our younger son Simon (he was about five) was showing sluggish development
in terms of articulation. This
was having us worried and we decided to have his hearing checked. It turned
out that it was hampered
by huge (!!!) natural wax plugs. Once these were removed, he attended
weekly sessions
with a speech therapist for about 5 or six months and that was the end of it.
At the age of 8, he is now extremely rhythm conscious, and sings in a music
school with obvious talent.
Best,
Marc
