Peter,

Are you Semitic scholar or turcologist?
I think we have much in common. I am a classicist and Semitic
Linguist. I was involved in several lexicology projects on Old
Aramaic inscriptions and the language of Jerusalem Talmud, as well
as comparison of Hebrew text of the Bible (I do not call it Old
Testament) to its Greek, Samaritan and Latin versions.
For a while I studied Othoman (Osmanly) dialect of Turkish. I also met a lot
of Turkic speaking people in Soviet Russia and tried to correlate Osmanly
correspondences to their dialects.

Shaloom va-salaam,

Hayim Y. Sheynin

I am working on a specialised dictionary of Key Terms in Biblical
Hebrew. I have also been working, and continue to work part time, on the
Azerbaijani or Azeri language of the former Soviet republic of
Azerbaijan, although my work on this has not been formally lexicography.
