The word in Korafe (Papuan language, Binandere family, Oro Province Papua New Guinea) for meat is oka. This is also the generic word for 'fish'. The word for pig is fuka. Taima fuka are wild pigs, and nati fuka 'village pigs' are domesticated   To be hungry for meat is masaro e ' hunger.for.meat.of.either.land.animals.or.fish  do'; e.g. Na masaro erira. '1s   hunger.for.meat   it.does.PRES'. The generic compound for food is oka bayau 'meat food'.  They call dogs sino and birds rika. Chickens are called kokora.

In a related language Baruga (Papuan language, Binandere family, Oro Province Papua New Guinea), they also use the word oka for meat to eat. The generic word for food is the nominalised form of 'eat' undari.  They call bush animals by the generic term taima oka 'bush animal' and fish uvu oka 'water animal.' Wild pigs are included in taima oka, but domesticated pigs are called naa oka 'village animal'. They have separate words for dogs nino and chickens kokora. In fact, birds are clasified entirely separately from animals as dii generically.

Both groups differentiate a number of animals and birds for specific genus.
