i am searching for a concept that might describe lexicography done by
non-linguists/non-lexicographers. my only thought at the moment is
"popular lexicography". i am trying to conceptualize the
social/historical situation for Chinook Jargon (a pidgin in the Pacific
Northwest, USA) where over a hundred dictionaries were published by
local historians, enthusiasts, army personel, etc. if there is a
published source worth looking into (or if you have ideas on this)
please let me know.
