Dear Ralph,

One possiblity you might consider is setting up a MySQL database with
the fields from the flat file. There are many advantages, including
but not limited to:

- The ability to add new fields smoothly at a later date
- Speed of access (a HUGE difference)
- Can be connected to a corpus for automatic example generation (think
"AVUI" and Key Word in Context)
- Ability to connect it to the Internet via Perl, PHP, or any number
of other interfaces
- Ability to use the same to write an entry mask for the database (or
use PHPMyAdmin)
- Exportability into standard formats such as XML
- Backups can be automated

Warm Regards,

Damon
