I just meant an easy method would be to use those diacritics that exist
in ASCII such as ~ ` ' , ^ /
Some of them can double for others such as the ^ for the macron in
romanized Japanese. For Mandarin tones, just use 1234, maybe the colon
for the umlaut (as you find on the US International keyboard), etc. :-)

Sorry, not sure what you mean. There are no characters with diacritics
in ASCII
