On the subject of bully, where does "bully" in ice hockey originally come
from? The Glossary of Historic Ice Hockey Terms at
http://www.birthplaceofhockey.com/evolution/glossary.html lists it as
follows:
"The first method of beginning an Ice Hockey game. Opposing centre players
banged sticks on ice beside ball, next banged each other's sticks above the
ball, then went for the ball. In Ice Hockey replaced by Face-Off in Winnipeg
in 1893."
When you consider "lovers", this funny little ritual of banging sticks is
interesting.
