Nasara, Anansara, etc used in northern West Africa for White men, may have
come from Nasareth where the Christians came from who had contact with the
Arabs in North Africa and this name was carried to West Africa by the salt
traders across the desert.

Konni speakers (northern Ghana) call Caucasians "nasara". This comes
originally from Arabic and means, as I understand it, something like
"foreigner." Ironically, if an Arab showed up in Konni-land, he would be
labeled "nasara"!
