Allan,
A published work in the field of phonaesthemes I know of is:
Margaret Magnus (1999) Gods of the Word. Thomas Jefferson University Press.
She focusses primarily on English but she does refer to other languages
such as Norwegian, Danish, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Lithuanian, Irish,
Russian, Hebrew, Japanese and Yoruba.
