Highlights: 1. The CKIP group has produced the first tagged and balanced
Chinese corpus (the 5 million word Sinica Corpus) and one of the first
Chinese Treebanks (The Sinica Treebank)
2. Past post-doctoral fellows received their doctorates
from research universities in France, the Great Britain, Germany, Taiwan,
and U.S.
3. COLING 2002 will take place in Taipei.
4. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to be
involved in a new international Ph.D. program on Computational Linguistics
and Chinese Language Processing, scheduled to start in Fall 2001.
Qualifications:1. Ph.D. in Linguistics or Computer Science by the
commencement of fellowship.
2. Research experience in Corpus Linguistics and
Computational Linguistics is preferred.
3. Ability to lead sub-projects a plus.
4. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese highly recommended.
Openings: 1 or more (pending on budget)
Term: January 2001-December 2002
(satisfactory first year performance a pre-requisite for second year
continuation; further renewal possible pending budgetary approval and
performance)
Starting Salary: roughly U.S. $21,600/year
