Language Science Press: First book out and four open positions

Dear colleagues,

I want to inform you that Language Science Press published their first book:

It is freely available for download (open access).

Language Science Press is funded by the DFG (two out of 17 grant
applications got funded) and we are now hiring. The jobs are for
LaTeX-XML conversions (to facilitate conversion into other formats),
extension of the publishing software we are using. We want to include
open review/open science features and pair this with gamification
aspects. Furthermore we are looking for someone to maintain Open
Monograph Press and support interaction with authors and editors and for
a forth person, a business economist, who will document the costs and
establish a sustainable model (contact to libraries, optional
micropayment, publication fonds of universities and resaerch
organizations and so on).

PS: Those who had the time to read until here may read about the
properties of our books:

Books are fully hyperlinked: all references to pages, figures, tables,
sections and chapters, cited work is fully linked. There are three
indexes (authors, languages, subjects) and these are also hyperlinked to
the respective pages. Depending on your viewer (e.g. skim on Mac) you
can hover over references and see a preview without having to go to the
respective pages. The books are fully searchable and we think that this
is actually an added value over printed books.

One advantage is that web indexing works efficiently (google, google
scholar, ....). This is different from books that are scanned in since
scanning software is not perfect (for instance "ü" is sometimes
recognized as "ii") and of course scanned books are not hyperlinked
internally.

Another highlight is that our unicode fonts are encoded properly. This
facilitates searching and also allows for copy & paste. For instance the
following line is taken from page 99 of Corinna's book:

tɔ̀kɔ̀naˋ nèɡˋ aːa, ŋèsiˋ e-los-ɪ̀ nà-wuyè̥

This really sets us apart from our competitors who do not handle the
special needs of linguistic publications with care.
