contributions to the SynSem research program
<http://www.hf.uio.no/english/research/theme/syntax-and-semantics/index.html>

The appointment is for a duration of three years and the positions
entail a 10% compulsory workload per year of teaching and supervision
duties.

*The SynSem research program*

Starting 2014, the SynSem research program is an interdisciplinary
effort bridging theoretical and computational linguistics, aiming to
promote advances in formally oriented syntax and semantics with a view
to improved models and methods of natural language understanding.

On the empirical side, the main focus is on Germanic, Romance and Slavic
languages as well as Latin and Greek. Major areas of interest include
the relationship between linguistic code and context, grammar formalisms
uniting theoretical and implementational interest, and the development
and deployment of resources for language processing and linguistic
research. For additional information, in particular an overview of
in-house participants, see the program's provisional website
<http://www.hf.uio.no/english/research/theme/syntax-and-semantics/index.html>.

*Requirements*

  * A PhD degree relevant to the program.
  * Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the
    closing date.
  * Personal ability and motivation
