Dear colleagues,
Felix Kopecky developed a new avm package for use in Language Science
Press books. The reason was that \it \rm and other font commands are
deprecated for some decades now, which resulted in funny effects if more
advanced font handling was used (as is necessary if you want to have
unicode and fonts for all the books linguists may com up with).
The package is robust as far as the use of avms inside of other
environments like forest is concerned and it is easy to use. No fancy
active/passve modes. It just produces the AVMs we are using today in
HPSG papers.
This is how an AVM is written down:
\avm{
[ ctxt & [ max-qud \\
sal-utt & \{ [ cat \\
cont <ind & i>
]
\}
]
]
}
easy, eh?
Tags are \1, \2 and so on.
\avm{[ attr1 & \4\\
attr2 & \4[attr3 & val3\\
attr4 & val4] ]}
Some special gimmicks are "+" which does \oplus for append.
The package is beta. Comments are welcome.

Best wishes
