The City College School of Education is recruiting for one full-time,
tenure track faculty position in bilingual teacher education to begin
September 1, 2005, for programs preparing bilingual (Spanish, Haitian, and
Chinese), Spanish, and ESL teachers for state certification at the K-12
level.  We seek both junior and senior faculty members to administer the
program, teach courses, and coordinate field experiences.

Duties:

General: The appointees' primary responsibility will be in the area of
bilingual teacher preparation.  Responsibilities will include teaching
Bachelor’s and Master’s students, supervising student teachers, advising
students, and participating in the relevant bodies of faculty governance.
The senior level appointment will also have responsibilities for program
administration.  The appointees will teach courses in bilingual and
multicultural educational theory and practice, in bilingual language arts,
and in the teaching of Spanish in secondary schools.

Qualifications:

General requirements: a doctorate in a relevant field for professional
appointments; formal preparation in Bilingual Education; fluency in
Spanish, Haitian, Creole, or Cantonese or Mandarin.  Desired
Qualifications:  Experience in teaching bilingual classes grades 1-6, in
preparing and supervising teachers in Bilingual Education/Spanish; in
working with both undergraduates and graduates, and in administration;
certification in the appropriate area.


Salary:

$35,031 - $93,507 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
