The University of Glamorgan awarded hurdler Colin Jackson an honorary
degree last July - now they are proud to have him grace the cover of their
annual report.
(Media-Newswire.com) - Hot off the press this week, the report chronicles
facts, figures and highlights of 2005, the year in which the University
announced its 35 million plans for expansion.
In November, Glamorgan revealed its future plans which include a merger
with Merthyr Tydfil College of Further Education and a new
state-of-the-art campus in Cardiff as well as upgrading many existing
buildings on its campus at Treforest.
The University of Glamorgan has 21,000 students making it the second
largest in Wales. It has 12 teaching excellence awards and a strong
reputation for producing graduates with employability: Glamorgan graduates
have the highest starting salary of any new graduates from any Welsh
university.
Vice-Chancellor Professor David Halton is confident that 2006 will be the
University's busiest and most productive yet. He said, "The University of
Glamorgan is a thriving and rapidly developing institution which is
engaged in a major change programme so that it can meet the future needs
of its staff and students in Wales and further afield. We will continue to
develop a modern university for the 21st century which provides access for
all who require an opportunity to succeed."
The Annual Report also looks at the University's recent successes in the
field of research and the launch of its Welsh language policy.
