INTENSIVE QUECHUA SUMMER COURSE
CENTER FOR LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN STUDIES
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT URBANA CHAMPAIGN
June 12 – August 2, 2006
The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies offers an intensive course in Quechua for graduate students and undergraduates from any university.
Instructor: Sixto C. Soto, s-soto3 at uiuc.edu native Quechua speaker, author, and 15 years of experience teaching in the UIUC.
Quechua, with 8-10 million speakers, is the largest Native American language. It is spoken in the Andean Countries (Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia). Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil also have Quechua speaking communities.
Quechua has been taught continuously at the University of Illinois at U-C since 1977. We provide classes with variety of teaching materials: the traditional written materials, videos, slides and computerized lessons.
