WE BELIEVE IN UNITY IN DIVERSITY: ERIC OZARIO
PANJIM:

"We are around 60 persons, who have come to this historic Azad
Maidan. We are here to protest against the imposition of one lipi (script)
over the others in Konkani. All of us say: respect all varieties in
Konkani. Thereby only unity among Konkani people will be brought about,"
Eric Ozario, president of Konkani Akademi, Karnataka, told GoaNewsClips.
He said that because all the people in the country firmly believe in unity
in diversity, the unity of India has been retained.
Ozario further said, "Therefore we say that whatever is relevant to India
is relevant to Konkani. We are not against Devanagri but we are for the
recognition of Romi and Kannada scripts and the respect that they
deserve." "We have around 25 lakh Konkani-speaking population in
Karnataka, even more than in Goa, and we have always used the Kannada
script. Hence the All India Konkani Parishad cannot impose Devanagiri on
us," he said. (GoaNewsClips)
