WELSH language activists plastered Cardiff city centre shops and banks
with stickers yesterday as part of their campaign for a new Welsh Language
Act. More than 200 people attended a rally addressed by Cymdeithas yr
Iaith Gymraeg (Welsh Language Society) leaders. A South Wales Police
spokesman said the rally was monitored by officers but there were no
arrests. Cymdeithas yr Iaith spokeswoman Catrin Dafydd said none of the
companies targeted by the pressure group had a proper Welsh language
policy.
