Description:

Department of Linguistics, University of Washington, beginning September
2007. A tenure-track appointment is intended in sociolinguistic theory to
support the department's specialization in sociolinguistics. Preferred
research areas include, but are not limited to: variation theory,
variation and syntactic or phonological theory, language contact, language
ideology, or network theory. A secondary specialization combining
sociolinguistics with phonology or ASL is desirable, but not required. The
ideal candidate will complement the department's existing strengths, and
will be eager to interact with students and faculty from the broader
linguistic community at the University of Washington. Applicants should
hold the Ph.D. degree by date of appointment and be highly qualified for
undergraduate and graduate teaching and independent research.

Priority will be given to applications received before December 1, 2006.
