Champa demands action against schools

Saturday September 16 2006 14:16 IST

CHITRADURGA: Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Chandrashekhara Patil
condemned the Chief Minister for assuring to reconsider the order issued
by Minister for Primary and Secondary Education. Education Minister had
ordered to derecognise the educational institutions, which violate
Karnataka language policy. But CM had assured to reconsider the order.
Referring to the report appeared in newspapers regarding CMs statement
Champa said, If the report is true the CM will have to face strong protest
from the people.

Education Minister Horatti had issued the order to protect the interest of
Kannada. CM should have supported the stand taken by his colleague.
Instead, he had supported the people who are opposed to Ministers stand,
Champ regretted. Language policy has been a big problem in this state
because of some anti-Kannada people. It has become a regular habit for
managements to teach English medium classes taking permission to run
Kannada medium schools, he complained. Such managements try to take
shelter under the cause of protecting future of students. Officials in
Education Department support such managements. All of them are traitors
of Kannada, he said. KSP will give complete support to bandh call given by
Vatal Paksha for October 4. Kannada Nudi Kannada Gadi Jagrithi Jatha will
also support the bandh, he added.
