New book on Koranic linguistics

Sun, 01 Apr 2007 08:33:56

New research on the linguistic structure of the Koran will come out later
this year under a publication titled "Basics in Koranic Linguistics" by
Reza Shokrani. Shokrani, a professor at Esfehan University, told Iran's
Koranic News Agency that linguistic research in Koranic studies remains a
neglected field and that little attention is being paid to subjects like
morphology, phonetics and semantics in the linguistic structure of the
Koran.

Professor Shokrani's new book will be published in two volumes. The first
volume will cover syntactic structures of the Koran while the second
volume will analyze specific verses from the holy scripture. Shokrani said
that he made use of both classical and modern works of linguistics as his
references while writing the book, which will be published by the Hozeh
and University Koranic Research Foundation.
