Haryana to formulate policy for Gurukul Institutions

December 26, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jhajjar: In a bid to promote the Gurukul system of education in
Haryana, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda has called upon the
teachers and scholars of Sanskrit to strive for preaching Sanskrit
language in the state. Mr. Hooda said that the government would
formulate an appropriate policy for Gurukul Educational Institutions
in the state to provide them financial assistance. He was addressing
a state level Sanskrit and Sanskriti Mahasammelan organised by the
Gurukul College in Jhajjar to protect 'sanskriti and Sanskrit'
(culture and Sanskrit language) on Tuesday.

"Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages of the world and many Vedas
have been written in this language. This language is the treasure
trove of our ancient cultural legacy", he said and added that he had a
high regard for the gurukul system of education which inculcated a
sense of hard discipline and sacrifice during the student life. Mr.
Hooda also assured the Sanskrit teachers to accept their demands and
to remove anomalies for promoting Sanskrit language in the state.
