Hello Miriam,
Your survey would have been the very thing I was
looking for a year ago and would have been a great
help to me when looking for a program. As a hopeful
candidate I can not comment on the quality of the
programs, since I have no experience with any of them,
nor do I know of anyone who has. I do know that they
were hard to find. Many schools offer MA's or EdM's,
but few seem to offer PhD's in this area. I know that
George Mason University and Indiana University
Bloomington have programs (as well as the Steinhardt
School). I was interested in finding a program at a
university that offered International Education as a
focus as well.
Would you please send me a copy of what you discover
in your survey?
Thank you,
Lisa Pierce

Dear Colleagues,
I have been asked to do a very quick survey of US
doctoral programs (Ph.D. and Ed.D) in TESOL and
Bilingual Education- and more general programs with
concentrations in one or both.
I'm on a super short timeline and would deeply
appreciate your list of programs you think are
l. Among the top 10 or so in the country in your
estimation.
2. Among the top 25
3. Lower but still good
4. Exist, but have limitations.
With appreciation for your input!
Miriam Eisenstein Ebsworth, Ph.D.
